A Journey of Restoration: One Man’s Love for His Truck
Our customer, Mark’s connection with this truck goes back many years. Once, it was his pride and joy, but as life moved on—marriage, kids, responsibilities—he realized the truck no longer fit his lifestyle. He made the difficult decision to sell it.
Fast forward more than 20 years. The memories of that truck never left him. Every now and then, he would wonder what happened to it. Through a friend, he eventually tracked down the current owner’s contact information. For four years, Mark reached out, emailing and texting once a month, to inquire about buying back the truck. He never gave up hope.
One day, the owner responded, agreeing to sell it—but on one condition: they would have to wait until the weather was warmer.
But then communication stopped. Mark did not hear from the owner again for several months.
Finally, on Father’s Day, Mark decided to find the man and buy the truck. What he found wasn’t the shining truck he remembered. It was buried in brush, surrounded by trees, and in a sad state of disrepair. The bed was gone. The cab was rusted through. Squirrels had chewed up the steering wheel. Still, Mark didn’t hesitate for a second. This was his truck, and he was not going to let it slip away again.
A friend suggested that Mark might be better off finding another truck of the same year, make, and model in better shape and restore it. But Mark would not budge. “This is my truck,” he said. “It’s worth it to me to restore my truck.” He didn’t even try to negotiate on price.
It took five men, a chainsaw, and a farm tractor to free the truck from the overgrowth and onto a trailer.
Then, the real work started. The restoration process would not be easy, but the goal was clear: bring the truck back to life while keeping it as close to original as possible—with a few modern upgrades.
Upgrades and modifications included:
- Bodywork
- New bed panels
- New bumpers

- Two-color paint scheme (matched to the original factory colors)
